The Seven Deadly Sins

Home > Beadworks > The Seven Deadly Sins

The Seven Deadly Sins were created using colours traditionally associated with them in Medieval church paintings. From left to right they are:

Sloth, Greed, Anger, Pride, Envy, Lust & Gluttony

Prudentius (c.410) defined a set of 'Contrary Virtues' which, when practised, would protect one from the deadly sins. These pearls of wisdom lie in the bowls. From left to right they are:

Diligence, Liberality, Patience, Humility, Kindness, Chastity & Abstinence.

Each bowl is beadwoven to approximately 2.5cm in diameter. 2002.
